Part of my responsibility is to teach math. While I need only know math at a third grade level, I like to think my skills go a bit beyond that. Despite my knowledge of addition, calendars, time, measurement and problem solving, I will never understand pregnancy math.
The 9 month pregnancy is a myth. It is really ten months.
The 10 months are actually measured in weeks and days that are somehow added up to equal "trimesters." The thing is that "tri" mean three and 40 months can't actually be divided evenly by the number 3 (see 3rd grade math is handy).
To complicate the situation a bit more...a twin pregnancy is less than 40 weeks.
So in an attempt to simplify the pregnancy math a wee bit we'll go with the fact that my doctor said they won't let me go past 38 weeks which means that since I hit the 19 week mark on Friday I am now more than halfway there.
Of course the hard parts of pregnancy are still to come, but it's an accomplishment all the same.
