Well, I'm Told They Are Identical...

but, I've yet to see the similarities.

When you are pregnant it is always reassuring to feel the baby move.  I was fortunate this go round to actually feel the flutters VERY early on.  Of course the downside to this was that it was sporadic and while it was "normal" to go days without feeling much, it was also stressful.  Adding to the stress was that I could never figure out which twin I would feel and would often wonder if I was feeling one or two.

Around 23 weeks that all changed and I could start telling them apart.  That's when things got interesting.  They are nothing alike.

Baby A is a nocturnal night owl.  I often wake up to find a party going on in my uterus way past curfew.  Baby B sleeps in, but then spends the afternoon and early evening grooving.  It's like having two teenagers inside me.  This doesn't mesh well with the Boy who is an absolute morning person and starts each day at the crack of dawn.

I've also noticed Baby A prefers sweets.  A brownie or cookie will elicit a "thanks mom" in the form of wiggles and kicks.  Baby B prefers a well-balanced dinner and is usually thumping on my insides before the plate is clean.  Baby B is also a BIG fan of ice cream.  I know these things to be fact as I've certainly consumed enough dinner, sweets and ice cream to test the theory.

As far as I'm concerned they can have their own eating habits, but I'm praying, hoping and crossing all fingers and toes that these so called "identical" being get themselves in sync in regards to sleeping and partying before they emerge because I'm fearing I will never sleep.

  1. I LOVE this post. I know how much I was suprised that my singleton had a "fetal personality." I hadn't even thought about you being able to distingish the twins en utero! How cool!
