The standard:
Do twins run in your family?
answer: No and they are identical which is not genetic, but rather a fluke.
The intrusive:
Did you do fertility treatments?
answer: No and that is an extremely personal question that you have no business asking anyone.
The usual for any pregnancy:
Do you know what you are having?
Have you picked out names?
When are you due?
How are you feeling?
These are all typical and acceptable questions even if they do fall into the small talk category.
Last night, however I was asked a question that still has my jaw on the ground.
I went to get my hair cut and as the shampoo girl was washing my hair she asked me (and I swear I am not making this up):
"I've always wondered...when your pregnant and your belly button pops out...does that mean it's time to have the baby?"
At first I thought she was joking. But she wasn't.
