Pruney

When we first toured what is now "home sweet home" we were turned off by the fact that it had a pool.  I would like to say it is because we are practical and pools cost a lot of money to run for a relatively short season.  I would also like to say it is because we are safety conscious and pools are a giant liability, but that wasn't the case either.  The truth is we are lazy and it seemed like it would be a lot of work to maintain.

After we decided to buy the house and we settled in we realized that it wasn't as challenging as we thought.  The Boy loves the water and we enjoyed spending some time out there as a family.  Since we probably would never have put in a pool on our own...much less an inground pool...we now are grateful that it came with the house.

I personally have never been more grateful than I have been this summer.

Between the heat and humidity, the aching body and needing to occupy the summer days of a 4 year old the pool has been an absolute blessing.  The Boy and I spend hours floating around.  I don't know if I appreciate the coolness or the joy of weightlessness more.  We stay out there until our teeth chatter, our lips turn blue and our fingers and toes are pruney.

I just checked the weather forecast and me thinks tomorrow may be the end of the 2009 season.  It's supposed to be 90 and humid tomorrow and then the following six days are in the 70s.  That takes us into September and really, how hot is it in September?

So tomorrow we will splash and frolic and enjoy the sweet relief from the gravity of dry land.  Hopefully, it won't be the last dip of the year, but it's possible.
