Grammy Poppins

An update is overdue

...or so I've been told

...by many

...none of which are eleven days post-partum, healing from a C-section with newborn twins, but I digress. :)

The big question we are constantly asked is, "How are you doing?"

The answer is, "GREAT!"  However, that is a bit misguided. You see we are operating with a false sense of security that all is well and that this twin gig is fairly easy.  My mom (aka Grammy Poppins) has been here all week and the girls are preemies so they sleep almost all of the time.

We are constantly joking that Jaycee Duggard will be bounced from the headlines because we fully intend to keep my mom held here in captivity for the next 18 years.

Having an extra set of hands as I recover is a blessing in itself, but it's the above and beyond, secret-elf-like things she does that are the best.

Coffee is made and ready every morning.  The boy's breakfast is on the table and his preschool lunches are packed.  The washing machine is constantly whirling, the broom is constantly swishing and dishes are magically cleaned and put away (did I mention that our dishwasher thought now would be a good time to stop working).  Meals are cooked.  Homemade cookies are baked from scratch (even with my intestines stitched, mobility limited and energy level non-existent I am motivated to get off the couch for a Snickerdoodle...but I don't have to because they are brought to me).

I mentioned I wanted to take a bath.  Moments later when I arrived in the bathroom there was a towel and facecloth gently placed on the edge of the tub which had been filled with hot water.

I collapsed into bed and realized I was lying on clean sheets.

My mail and the mountain of paperwork from the hospital was sorted into manageable piles.

Errands are run.

Yeah...we're not letting her leave anytime soon.  She thinks she's leaving Sunday.  The place is going to go to hell in a matter of seconds and DSS will probably be called in.  So to answer the question we are doing great.  That answer will change in 48 hours!
